Ju-jitsu
Ju-jitsu is an ancient martial art widely practiced by Japan’s samurai warriors. Its emphasis is on defeating an armed or unarmed opponent using throws, pins, chokes, joint locks and various strikes against an opponent’s vital areas (Atemi-waza). In ju-jitsu the principles of yielding is emphasized whereby an opponent is unbalanced and defeated by the proper use of leverage and momentum. In ju-jitsu students are taught to get out of various grabs in chokes, stop punches and kicks, and overcome attacks that utilized areas of weapons such as knives, clubs and guns. At the Beverly Hills Karate Academy students can achieve their black belt in ju-jitsu within a few years.
