Judo
Judo is a traditional Japanese martial art founded by Jigoro Kano in the late 1800s. Based on various ju-jitsu styles, judo is primarily a grappling art in which students learn to throw each other with various techniques, as well as learning to defeat an opponent on the ground. Though practiced today mostly as a sport at the Beverly Hills Karate Academy, the most practical self-defense applications of judo are emphasized. Those who desire can work toward achieving their black belt in judo. This highly physical art is a superb conditioner, both aerobically and strength wise and, because it is a contact art, it gives its practitioners great confidence when facing an opponent.
